Harvest Day, October 21, 2023 11am to 4pm

October 21, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

On Hampton’s Farm Side:

Spend a fall afternoon on the Hampton plantation and experience Antebellum-era farming traditions and techniques. Learn about pressing apples for cider, making corn husk dolls, and churning milk for butter. Hear the sounds of a blacksmith at work, along with 19th century music, and a corn shucking contest.  Park rangers will give tours of the farm buildings where you can learn more about the lives of the indentured, enslaved, and paid laborers who fueled the Hampton estate. Living history volunteers will showcase music on the banjo and fiddle and demonstrate 19th century farming techniques.
